Third visit in three years. Great site for a very quiet and relaxing holiday. Many places of interest nearby.
This evaluation has been obtained by our inspector from a questionnaire at the camp site.

Stayed 2 wks at end of June '12, having pre-booked through Caravan Club. Excellent location, rather isolated. Quiet, lots of wildlife, peaceful. Site was clean and tidy throughout, including toilets and showers. Excellent swimming pool. Our pitch was generous in size, gently sloping, but some were much smaller and quite steep. Water, drainage & electric(10A) on all pitches, but drainage point didn't work well and was too high to drain into by gravity - pity! Washing machines (expensive) very poor for first week, suddenly replaced by two new ones just before club inspector arrived! Weekly quiz night good opportunity to meet people, but barbecue night had poor, overcooked food, quite expensive and live music much too loud. Minimal items available in 'shop' and morning bread/croissants were poor quality(frozen?). Biggest problem was the unpleasant, arrogant owner who was much more interested in taking customers' money than in giving good, friendly, service. Sadly will not return.
This is the second time that we have stayed at Chateau de Lacomte. On our first visit two years ago, we stayed for one week; this time we have been here for over two weeks. This is a well maintained site set in beautiful surroundings. There is easy access to many interesting and attractive places - if all you want to do is relax, then the swimming pool and loungers are all you need. I have read some disappointing comments and wonder if the authors have been staying at the same site. Our hosts and the staff are charming and polite. The bar and restaurant are good. We will return in the future - so should you.
Having recently spent a fabulous 5 days here, we have to say that we could not have asked for more. The location is stunning and a fab base from which to explore. The owners and staff could not have been more friendly, nothing was too much trouble, and the level of cleanliness was superb on what is a beautiful, well maintained site. The food was wonderful, and the band night is an absolute must -ours included a BBQ, but apparently they also do curry nights as well as quizzes. Having been in the hospitality trade for a number of years ourselves, we appreciate more than most what it takes to run something of this scale to the standard that Sheila & Stuart maintain, and we highly recommend that you include this place in your travels.
As for Nickys \\\"review\\\" below, might I politely suggest that they only post reviews of places they have visited recently, rather than over 2 years ago, as it could be misleading, thankfully we read it and ignored it, so should you!
My Wife and I are staying at this beautiful peaceful site at the moment. The facilities are excellent. Even though it is low season there is Fresh bread every morning, the restauarant is open & the food is of a very high standard and very well priced. Same goes for the bar. Take-aways also availalble. This site is up and running as if it were high season, so for the CCA-price er night it is amazing value. Pool is superb. Sheila & Stuart are very helpful & friendly as are their staff. Shower block beautiuflly clean and site very well kept. Area is fantastic, we highly recommend a visit to Rocamadour & the market at Cahors on Wednesday morning. We were only going to stay for one night as the reviews put us off; but we are now staying for two weeks as the site is really lovely & the area is amazing. We highly recommend a visit & have booked to come back in the Summer as it is Adult Only.
I have just read with amazement the reviews on Chateau de Lacomte. My wife & I discovered this site 5 years ago before they changed to Adult Only (excellent decision) and have now visited it 6 times. We have always found the owners to be first rate hosts, nothing too much trouble. The site is wonderfully quiet & the pitches are a good size & fully serviced, the amenities block is always very clean, they don't supply toilet paper like most sites now. The pool is superb & the restaurant is a real delight, not what you expect on a campsite.
We would strongly recommend this site as it's one of the best.
With regard to the other reviews, I accept that everybody has an opinion, but if satellite tv is so important why go away.
We suggest that people looking for peace & quiet try it for themselves, even if only for a couple of nights, actually don't, that way it won't become overcrowded.
We stayed at Chateau de Lacomte twice last summer, the first time we booked an overnight (4th July) on our way down to The Med where we had booked 3 weeks. We liked Chateau de Lacomte and stayed 3 nights instead of 1, on our arrival we were warmly welcomed by Sheila, who is also responsable for producing the excellent food served in the restaurant. We were shown to our pitch by Stuart (Sheila & Stuart own the site) who helped us positon and unhitch our caravan, as I don't like reversing and our motormover was damaged coming off the ferry. The site is very relaxing (apart from 1 or 2 of the other guests who seem to forget that they have chosen a camping holiday and not a 5 star hotel) we swam in the beautiful pool and had dinner on the terrace. Stuart even repaired our motor mover for us, it worked perfectly ever since. All in all an excellent stay, unlike the site at the Med, we stayed 4 nights and came back to Chateau de Lacomte and I have just booked 4 week for this July
We had booked for 7 nights from 6 July 2011 through the Camping and Caravan Club. Due to technical difficulties I rang the site on Monday 4 July to see if we could arrive early. Mr Coe stated that they were almost full, so I said not to worry we would go somewhere else for two days. Then a pitch became available! So we arrived and accepted the pitch allocated No. 7. It was poor no grass, but soil and stones and a big slope. the following day having fully set up, we found a large number of pitches unoccupied. These were very good covered in grass and level. The hot water at the shower and washing facilities was non existent. The washing machines were in a very poor condidtion, a charge of 5 euros.
There were at least 2 broken toilet seats for 7 days. Then to top it all a notice was displayed that as of 8 July no toilet paper would be supplied and to bring your own. This site is definitely not a 4 Star and we will not be returning. Our expectations were certainly not met.
