Managed to find site in middle of countryside miles from any facilities, nearest shop 9 miles away.
Shown to first pitch which sloped in every direction and asked for another which was also sloping but not as badly but very small. Owner told me all the piches were booked but whilst we were there none of them were occupied.
Very dissaponted with site as it sounded very exclusive when you look at the advertisement in the Caravan Club Magazine. The toilet block needed TLC, the showers were cold and most of the time there was no loo rolls.
There are no veiws from the site and the nearest village Carlucet only consists of a few houses and no amenities.
Would not visit the site again, and certainly would not recommend it.
We booked into this site for up to 7 nights and were surprised to have to pay for the whole stay in advance without seeing our pitch or any of the site facilities. On reflection we should have refused and only paid for 2 or 3 nights but felt under pressure as we were told that the site was full, when in fact it was half empty. After 3 nights on a small cramped pitch using our own facilities as the water in the cold unwelcoming toilet block was tepid we decided to move on but were refused a re-fund of our unused nights, being told that it was ACSI site policy to pay in advance with no refunds and that we should have read the site conditions on the internet before booking in. This site should not be in the ACSI book as it is not suitable for tourers and caters mainly for book ahead customers from the U.K
We pre booked this site well in advance for a 4 week stay. As we were unloading we realised we had lost the key to our bike lock and the bikes were locked on the carrier. When we asked if we could borrow a hacksaw or the like we found the owner very unhelpful and were asked where we had lost it.
We were assigned to a small cramped pitch with no satellite coverage. When we requested to move pitch we were told that we could not as the site was full. We walked around the site, it was not full. There were many free pitches on which we checked and they had satellite coverage. We persisted in our request to move and were accused by the unfriendly owners of being rude, although they did eventually offer us an excellent pitch. We were told that the showers ran hot and cold, but as we were some way from the single shower block we used our own facilities. The shop on site is VERY basic and it is some way to the supermarket. The take away advertised was non existent, except for chips!!
We had booked for 7 nights from 6 July 2011 through the Camping and Caravan Club. Due to technical difficulties I rang the site on Monday 4 July to see if we could arrive early. Mr Coe stated that they were almost full, so I said not to worry we would go somewhere else for two days. Then a pitch became available! So we arrived and accepted the pitch allocated No. 7. It was poor no grass, but soil and stones and a big slope. the following day having fully set up, we found a large number of pitches unoccupied. These were very good covered in grass and level. The hot water at the shower and washing facilities was non existent. The washing machines were in a very poor condidtion, a charge of 5 euros.
There were at least 2 broken toilet seats for 7 days. Then to top it all a notice was displayed that as of 8 July no toilet paper would be supplied and to bring your own. This site is definitely not a 4 Star and we will not be returning. Our expectations were certainly not met.
A bad experience.
We booked 4 months in advance paying a deposit of E40. Plus a booking fee of E10!!!
Allocated a small awkard pitch which stank with old and fresh dogs mess on it deposited by owners dog.
Requested to move pitch and was told that this was the best available. Can't imagine what the worst was like.
Booked for 11 days and decided to leave after one night.
Met unpleasant owner who gave us a lecture of the laws of contract and said that he was entitled to charge us for the full 11days but he would charge us for one night and keep our deposit of E50. He did not deliver an acceptable pitch and we feel cheated out of our deposit.
Having paid for one night this nasty little man then invited us to leave straight away as we were not happy.
Worst experience in 15 years of Continental touring
One young lady on his staff was very helpful.
This evaluation has been obtained by our inspector from a questionnaire at the camp site.
Lovely area and pitches very good & private. Not good when damp as the facilities were extremely damp and only cold water for showers & washing up.
Stayed 2 wks at end of June '12, having pre-booked through Caravan Club. Excellent location, rather isolated. Quiet, lots of wildlife, peaceful. Site was clean and tidy throughout, including toilets and showers. Excellent swimming pool. Our pitch was generous in size, gently sloping, but some were much smaller and quite steep. Water, drainage & electric(10A) on all pitches, but drainage point didn't work well and was too high to drain into by gravity - pity! Washing machines (expensive) very poor for first week, suddenly replaced by two new ones just before club inspector arrived! Weekly quiz night good opportunity to meet people, but barbecue night had poor, overcooked food, quite expensive and live music much too loud. Minimal items available in 'shop' and morning bread/croissants were poor quality(frozen?). Biggest problem was the unpleasant, arrogant owner who was much more interested in taking customers' money than in giving good, friendly, service. Sadly will not return.
Beautiful grounds and large pitches, combined with the fact that this is an adult only site, make this a very peaceful campsite. The showers and toilets are fine if a little dated (no toilet paper, which is disappointing for an English run site). Expensive in high season, so being asked for an extra to use the tennis court felt a bit unfair ( nobody used it while we were there). Friendly owners who are happy to recommend days out. Restaurant fine but food must be ordered in advance.
A superb site , more enjoyable by being adult only.Stewart ,family and staff were efficient and amenable at all times.Did not eat in restaurant but all reports were very positive.many happy hours spent at and in the great pool. Site in a good area to visit interesting sites in Quercy and Dordogne.Avery enjoyable stay which we hope to repeat.
